Case study: Supporting Local Schools

  • Igloo

Gwyrosydd Primary School igloo project

Within the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency (DVLA) contract, our service partner Elior use a large number of 2-litre plastic milk bottles which go into a plastic waste recycling scheme.

However, in December 2015 we were approached by a local school who wanted our help completing an initiative to build an igloo made out of milk cartons to create a new reading area.

As a result, the school completed two indoor igloos and were hoping to complete a larger exterior igloo in the spring.

Gwyrosydd Primary School said: "Thank you so much for collecting and contributing the milk bottles for us. Without your contribution, they would have taken so much longer to make. The children are enjoying having a new reading area to read quietly in their igloo."

It took 487 milk bottles to make the igloo in the photo
