Telereal Trillium moves ahead with proposed redevelopment of Canterbury BT site

21 May 2013

Plans to develop a BT Telephone Engineering Centre into a residential housing development have been approved by Canterbury City Council.

Owners of the site, Telereal Trillium, secured resolution to grant consent for the redevelopment of the 2.25-hectare site on Littlebourne Road, Canterbury. The proposed redevelopment will see the obsolete and under-utilised depot make way for a vibrant residential development including 93 residential units, as well as public open space and a play area, vastly improving an important gateway to the city.

A Telereal Trillium spokesperson said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the recent planning committee meeting. As well as providing much needed additional housing, the development will result in highway safety improvements and significantly improve the character and appearance of the countryside.”

The site will be vacated towards the end of the year with BT operations relocating to a new, more efficient facility currently under construction in the local district.
