Telereal Trillium sells former JobCentre site in Limehouse

12 February 2013

Telereal Trillium has sold a former Department for Work and Pensions office site on Limehouse Cut to Canary Wharf Group.

The cleared 0.25 acre site on Burdett Road, Tower Hamlets, has planning consent for an 11-storey, mixed-use development.

The original 1930s Employment Exchange building on the site was vacated by the DWP in 2006. In 2011, Telereal Trillium secured detailed planning consent for the redevelopment of the site to provide 56 apartments, including affordable dwellings, together with commercial space at ground floor level. The site was then cleared and is currently vacant.

A Telereal Trillium spokesperson said: “Having remained vacant since 2006, we are pleased that the site may now be brought back into use, providing housing and local employment, and will once again make a positive contribution to the Limehouse community.”
