Telereal Trillium, working collaboratively with Be First - a Barking & Dagenham Council regeneration company dedicated to accelerating economic growth in the borough - has secured a resolution to grant planning for the demolition of the former DWP Job Centre at Chequers Lane, Dagenham and redevelopment of a 7-storey new build block, providing 70 residential apartments.
The proposed scheme consists of a mix of studio, 1 and 2 bed apartments, including 14 parking spaces and a provision of 1,886 sq. ft. for commercial use at ground floor.
The existing two-storey former Job Centre was vacated in March 2018 as part of the Department for Work & Pensions nationwide rationalisation of services and assets. The site forms part of the South Dagenham West Regeneration Area and is located within 500m from Dagenham Dock DLR providing services to the City of London in 30 minutes. Dagenham Heathway tube station is just a 12-minute walk.
Steve Akeju, Senior Development Manager at Telereal Trillium said:
“Dagenham is becoming a town of interest in East London due to its proximity to transport links and access to central London; it is also relatively affordable in comparison to other areas of London. With the significant undersupply of homes in Dagenham and regeneration plans in place by the Council for the surrounding areas, this could be a real opportunity for owner occupiers and first time buyers priced out of the more affluent London areas.”
