Telereal Trillium has been granted outline planning permission for the redevelopment of Cowan Street car parking site for 42 residential units or 91 student beds in Nottingham City centre.
The 6,300 sq ft scheme was put forward as a “flexible” planning application after discussions with Nottingham City Council took place last year.
The site was used as a car park and lies between and Sneinton Market and the Lace Market on the corner of Cowan Street.
If proposals for the 42 new build apartments are progressed, it will include 26 one bedroom and 16 two bedroom apartments.
If the student accommodation for 91 bedrooms is chosen, this will also incorporate an entrance and amenity hub fronting onto Beck Street and a potential commercial unit looking out onto Bath Street and Victoria Park at the North of the site.
The new development will provide modern and high quality apartments or student flats that maximise daylight, creating comfortable internal spaces.
A spokesperson for Telereal Trillium said: “It is our belief that the redevelopment will greatly enhance the quality and appearance of the site and will provide housing and secure long-term sustainable use of the site in addition to providing a positive addition to the local area.”
Architects on the scheme is Whittam Cox. Harris Lamb is acting as agents for the development.
