Derby to get new Caribbean restaurant with letting of 1-5 Wardwick to Turtle Bay Limited

26 May 2015

Telereal Trillium has let 1-5 Wardwick, Derby in its entirety to restaurant operator, Turtle Bay Limited on a 25 year term.

The four-storey property, comprising 8,500 sq ft of space is located in Derby city centre, in close proximity to other bars and restaurants, and on the fringe of the retail centre. A change of use to retail and leisure use was secured for the ground and 1st floors in October 2014.

Formerly occupied by the Department for Work and Pensions, it was used as a Job Centre Plus until vacated in August 2014. Telereal Trillium acquired the property as part of the Flagstaff portfolio acquisition from Lloyds Bank in 2011.

Mark Kelly, disposals and development director at Telereal Trillium said: "We are pleased to be letting this property to Turtle Bay restaurants and supporting their expansion plans, while also adding to the creation of new jobs in the city."

George Waite, property manager at Turtle Bay Limited added: "Turtle Bay are very excited about coming to Derby and are confident our restaurant will be a great addition to Derby’s culinary offer. We hope our chosen location on the Wardwick will help to strengthen the link between Derby’s established retail and leisure cores. We look forward to opening our doors to the people of this vibrant City to enjoy a truly Caribbean eating and drinking experience."

The restaurant is expected to open in August 2015.

The property was marketed by FHP.
